Best in Iowa for Hospital Quality

The numbers are in, and George C. Grape Community Hospital finds itself at the very top of the class for hospital quality.

Based on scores derived from Healthstream's Patient Satisfaction Quarterly Tracking Report for the period of January to March of 2016, the hospital's Emergency, Inpatient and Outpatient Departments each ranked in the 99th percentile among all reporting Iowa hospitals in the category of 'Overall Hospital Rating.'

"It's an extraordinary accomplishment," exclaimed Hospital C.E.O. Mike O'Neal. "We use these scores to monitor how we're doing in specific categories within the patients' overall experience. For all three of our departments (Emergency, Inpatient and Outpatient) to have ranked that high, it suggests very strongly that our patients are extremely satisfied with the quality of care they receive when they visit our hospital".

Mr. O'Neal says that this achievement is the result of an organization-wide commitment to excellence in healthcare.

"Here at the hospital we work with our entire staff to hardwire the skills that lead to excellence in healthcare," Mr. O'Neal explains. "When you find yourself in the 99th percentile among all reporting hospitals for overall hospital rating, it speaks volumes about how our staff has bought in to our philosophy. Everyone in every department of our hospital has an impact on the patients' experience, and a result like this shows that we're working together to achieve great things."

While the staff takes tremendous pride in this accomplishment, Mr. O'Neal is quick to point out that the hospital won't rest on its laurels.

"In this industry there's no such thing as 'good enough'", Mr. O'Neal points out. "Standards for quality and patient satisfaction are constantly evolving. We'll celebrate our victories, but we won't lose sight of the need to continually improve and evolve to meet the needs of our patients."
