PRN, Laboratory Technician, MT, MLT - Laboratory

The Laboratory Department at George C. Grape Community Hospital is dedicated to delivering exceptional patient care with compassion, professionalism, and accuracy. We strive to exceed patient expectations by providing high-quality laboratory services and ensuring timely, personalized care that supports positive patient outcomes.

We are seeking a PRN Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) or Medical Technologist (MT) to join our team and provide flexible coverage as needed.

Schedule: PRN coverage for weekdays, weekends, and on-call needs. Primarily day shift hours.

Essential Responsibilities:

-Perform, analyze, and correlate clinical laboratory testing according to established procedures and protocols to assist physicians in diagnosing and treating patients.
-Accurately document and communicate laboratory results to providers and other healthcare professionals in a timely manner.
-Operate, calibrate, troubleshoot, and maintain laboratory instrumentation and equipment while ensuring proper documentation.
-Recognize and resolve routine instrument issues and escalate complex problems to the Laboratory Supervisor as appropriate.
-Adhere to all laboratory policies, procedures, quality assurance standards, and regulatory requirements.
-Maintain patient confidentiality and uphold professional and ethical standards.
-Participate in continuing education activities, departmental meetings, training sessions, and other professional development opportunities to maintain competency and licensure requirements.
-Contribute to a positive, collaborative work environment focused on quality patient care and service excellence.

Qualifications:

-Must possess a current laboratory license, if required by the state in which the laboratory is located, and meet one of the following qualifications:
-Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctoral degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, Chemical Science, or Biological Science from an accredited institution; or
-Associate degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or Laboratory Science from an accredited institution; or
-Completion of a clinical laboratory training program approved by ABHES, CAAHEP, or another HHS-approved accrediting organization.

Preferred Qualifications:
-ASCP certification (or eligibility) preferred.
-Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
-Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with healthcare team members.
-Commitment to providing outstanding patient-centered care.
