Physical and Occupational Therapy

Priorities

George C. Grape Community Hospital prioritizes physical well-being with the help of Physical and Occupational Therapists.

Everyone has their own life priorities. These can range from family, friends, food, health and much more. Health is a major component for most people and we believe that means optimal health, both mental and physical.

There are many ways people can go about strengthening their overall health and well-being. One way people do this is by visiting physical or occupational therapists for help.

Leading Symptoms

George C. Grape Community Hospital is extremely grateful to offer community members access to physical and occupational therapies. Our therapists see patients for many things, but here is a list of the main patient symptoms:
  • lymphedema
  • back pain
  • hip pain
  • shoulder pain
  • knee pain
  • hand dysfunction

Success Stories

Our therapists are licensed professionals who have worked in their field for years; helping, training, enhancing patient knowledge. As a result, they have gathered many success stories. Here's a couple favorites:

Getting Back to the Little Things

"I had a patient that lost her fine motor control after a stroke. She loved earrings and had more pairs than she could count. She told me she was going to give them away because she could no longer put them in her ears with her limited coordination. I asked her to hold off on giving them away. We worked on her FMC for multiple sessions. One day she came in for treatment, and she smiled at me, turned her head sideways and said, "look what I was able to do!!" She was able to manage her earrings front and back and was so excited."

Doing the Things we Love

"One of my patients had a severe stroke. I learned that before the stroke, they loved to garden and work with wood in their spare time. They were very concerned these hobbies would not be possible any more. After working through our treatment plan, it was very rewarding to see them return to the garden and wood-working shop without any limitations!"
