Hospital Foundation Tackles New Goals for 2012

HAMBURG, IA, April 13, 2012 - For decades the George C. Grape Foundation Board has been an essential institution in Fremont County. They solicit new hospital shareholders, organize volunteers and raise funds to meet the needs of the non-profit hospital located in Hamburg. In 2011 they were able to donate over $74,000 on the following projects: Reconditioned beds, driveway widening and sidewalks renovations, a new anesthesia machine and new colonoscopes.

For 2012 the board will tackle raising even more funds and write grants to provide resources for a bone density scanner that is permanently located at the hospital, new lighted external signage and new ADA compliant internal signage.

Area residents can help the Foundation meet these goals in two ways. The first is to participate! They are always looking for new Hospital Shareholders who donate at least $100 to the hospital or to the foundation. The second way is to recruit new donors! We all have business contacts and friends outside of the county who would be willing to make a donation to the Hospital Foundation which is a 501 (c) 3 charitable organization. Tell others how important it is for you to keep the Critical Access Hospital here for local care. Many will be willing to help us out in little ways and sometimes in very substantial ways, but only if someone asks them first.

In March, the Foundation was pleased to be awarded a $3000 grant from the Fremont County Foundation to support the replacement of ADA compliant signage inside the hospital.

Ruth Paper has stepped up to be the chairperson for the Golf Tournament and Benefit Auction to be held on June 2nd. Letters to potential donors have been mailed out, fliers are posted in area towns and registration forms are available at the golf course.

Even if you are not a golfer, you can participate at the benefit auction or just make a donation. Contact Ruth Paper at 712-382-2486 or any of the foundation members if you would like to make a donation.

Members of the 2012 Foundation Board are: Charlie Zanker as President, Kent Claiborne as Treasurer, Mary Hansen as Secretary, Ruthie Paper as Golf Tournament Chairperson, Marvin Oakes, Brian Kingsolver, Phil Kuhr, Halley Evans-Robinson, Becky Shull, and Dennis Reilly.
