Ladies "Stepping Out" Night Planned for Hamburg


Friday, May 18th is the date to reserve for the Ladies Night Out in Hamburg. George C. Grape Community Hospital, the Outpatient Specialty doctors and local businesses are hosting a free night of food and fun at the Marnie Simons Elementary School in Hamburg, IA. The doors open at 5:00 p.m. for shopping, heart healthy appetizers and health seminars. Participants will be greeted by Members of the Hospital Auxiliary who are helping to host the event and door prizes.

The evening will be capped off with an inspirational talk and musical performance by Chandra M. Barlow, Tech Sergeant USAF, a 1996 graduate of Clarinda High School and the daughter of Prem and Sherry Barlow of Clarinda, Ia. Barlow served four years in the US Air Force and now serves with the Arizona Air National Guard in Tucson, AZ. Barlow expanded her musical and theatrical talents by competing for and earning a coveted spot on the "Tops in Blue" performance team which entertained military troops stationed in thirty-two countries including Afghanistan and Iraq.

Women's Foot Health will be the first Educational Seminar of the evening. Dr. Stanislav will talk about how to keep an active and independent lifestyle by avoiding foot issues that can slow some women down. Dr. Stanislav will also answer questions from the participants.

Nutrition for Your Family and the changing American diet will be taught by GCGCH Dietician Carol Stehlik. Stehlik will also answer questions about nutrition and diets.

A Summer Fashion show for women's clothing and for their feet is being planned by Sheldon's and Browns Shoe Fit of Nebraska City and Mae Farmer Boutique of Shenandoah.

Do you know your bone density number? What can make you more prone to Osteoporosis? Can men get Osteoporosis? Hear the answers as Joyce Paucek, Osteoporosis Specialist for Hologic, a leading developer, manufacturer and supplier of medical imaging systems and surgical products dedicated to service the healthcare needs of women shares research about bone density scans and bone health.

Tiffany Lyons, GCGCH Outpatient Clinic Coordinator at George C. Grape Community Hosptial will update participants on the variety specialty clinics that are offered monthly in Hamburg.
